I made a base mistake and introduced a fire eel to me tank without isolating it first. My clown loaches started to die with what looks like columnaris. I lost 2.
I medicated the tank 24 hours ago with the only thing i could find that would be ok for all fishes. Ocean Free External Bacteria and Fungus
Away for Arowana. I used this because it says it's safe for all fishes. The CLs didn't like it and i was expecting to wake up to a group of dead CLs. They're all alive. I did try to find antibiotics, but i can't.
However, the tank has been dosed for about 18 hours, all my NTTs now have cloudy eyes. They have a whitish membrane over their eyes which seems to be shedding. I'm now doing A 70% wc. The 3rd in so many days.
My question that needs to be answered. is this the onset of columnaris in the NTTs? apart for the eyes the NTTs are showing no signs of illness.
Does anyone know how it would affect them?
Or is is the meds that have caused this to happen, in which case WCs and salt should cure it.
Any advice is welcome. Please don't just post to say sorry but i don't know how to help.

this is from oddball to my ngt's eye problem post, I hope this can help you out

If it's the surface layer that's experiencing the opacity, curing the fish of the pathogen can lead to the eye's surface layer sloughing off
and being replaced by a healthier surface layer. Are you treating with a sulfacetamide medication? They have these meds for fish. You can also apply sulfa. sodium ophthalmic ointment directly to the eye. This meds white wax base will hold the med to the eye long enough for ample medication absorption.

So I think WC + salt will do if the fish is healthy

Thanks. I have a feeling it is the meds i used causing the problem with the NTTs. They can still see and it is just the surface layer of the eye which is white. I'll keep up a daily WC.

Are there any signs of rotting fins, and white fungus like patches??

I heard Furan 2 & kanamycin can be used to treat columnaris. But that's a v strong med
And prob hard to get hold oh in Thailand. (quickly anyway...)

70% wc is pretty extreme. Maybe do 30-40 % daily.
Keep water well oxygenated. Keep nitrates low by lightly feeding.
Remove any big wood which they can scratch their eyes against (just in case)
You could try pimafix as a natural alternative.
I would definitely add some salt and after each wc replace same salt % of wc.
Don't bump the temperature up like people usually do, as columnaris thrives in higher temps.

if the fish is healthy then salt will do the job for you...just add some salt and let your NTT cure the eyes. when everything is back to normal..do some water changes until you reach ideal water quality for your NTT.

Ade, no to all of that. Just the eyes. It seem as if its the same today, so not getting any worse. I did a 70% wc because i wanted to get as much medicated water out as i could. I'm going to do 40% daily now, and add salt. I was, (still am) worried that my tank is going to wipe out. But not change is good right?

The CLs have all gone. I've taken all drift wood and rocks out, I've continued with the daily WC, and salt. I fed them and they all ate a little which is good.

The eyes are on better, but no worse either.

Scratch that. One of the NTTs, which spent more time near the CLs is now looking a lot worse. It can't see, but the cloudiness is still on the outside, not inside.
There are also a couple of split fins which looks more like rot than damage, but there is a fair bit of shoving going on now the substrate has gone.
I don't know what to do now. I've been doing WCs everyday and adding salt for new water.
Should vac all the sand out so I'm left with a bare tank?
Here's some pictures form yesterday.

it doesnt seem to me that this is your problem, since the introduction of a new fish seemed to trigger this, but i have 8 datnoids, 2 Indo, and 6 Siamese and i went through a 2 month phase where many of then had cloudy eyes, not as severe as your case, but similar, and it turned out it was because there wasnt enough flow in the tank .... i spent hundreds of dollars on meds and constant water changes and adding salt and nothing helped until i added a circulation pump, and they all improved drastically to 100% healthy in 1-2 weeks ... i still occasionally see 1 with a slight bluish tint to the eye, but i think that happens due to rubbing on something cause it dissappears in a day or 2 .... so make sure you have enough current
