Sorry if i am posting this in the wrong section, but I need some help. I just acquired 3 new fish that I know nothing about; one is an albino Oscar I believe; another I believe to be a black pacu, and lastly a Jack Dempsey. I got these guy because I was picking up a snake from this guy on one condition I would have to take the fish. I said ok fine. I took the fish figuring I could take the fish to my local pet store that I deal with on a regular basis. That's when I found out pacu's grow to be huge. This pacu I have now is about the half of a narrow 55 gallon tank. So I need some help. I need some one to take these fish off my hands. The person I got them from didn't take very good care of them, or the snake. When I got the tank home, and set up I found the filter cartridges to be completely covered with gunk. Brown slime of some sort, and the water stunk. I am not sure if this guy was feeding the fish. I am not sure what to feed them, so I been giving them some bread. Don't go all irate on me on this. I am seeking help I have only have had the fish for 24 hours, and trying my best out of ignorance to care for these guys. Not a single person in this state will take a pacu. HELP!

drop em off at a damn fish oriented pet store (after you call of course) check some phone books under pet
then call one that has fish in its title and they should take them

I have called the fish only pet stores. Not a single person will take a pacu. What they all told me was if you can't find someone to take it off your hands; you will have to euthanize the fish.

no I also have the albino Oscar I believe it is and a Jack Dempsey. I want these gone. The Pacu the most

I don't think knowing what the other 2 are is relevant to his issue... Have you posted the pacu in the Buy and Sell? If not, you should do so, meanwhile, I'd suggest looking to see if there is an Aquarium (Fish Zoo, not tank) nearby. If you're lucky enough to have one, call them up and ask them if they'd take the pacu as a donation. That's what we're looking at if we cannot keep our clown knife because she's too big for all the local fish stores. We happen to have one that is trying to reopen and just lost some fish.

That Oscar is gorgeous, I've always loved the white ones. I guess if the Aquarium won't take that pacu, you'll either have to pray someone buys it, or unfortunately you may have to put it to sleep. :(
