Most driftwood will lower the pH of an aquarium. You could add some crushed coral as substrate or put it in a filter bag and put it in your aquarium. That will help to raise the pH again.

So you tried testing the water from tap then waiting 24 hr and testing again, why not try it with a good layer of your sand in the bottom of your water sample. if it does not effect it it is the wood if it does it is the sand.

Also i was asking the type of sand listed on the bag not the brand.

I would be more worries with your nitrate, they should never be 0. how did you clean your filters?

I took both my filters apart and wiped the sludges off of it. Only part i didnt wipe was the intake valve connected to the filters motor. Wiped with paper towels and tap water since i was disinfecting the tank

Stated pool filter sand on the bag, not sure guessing silica?

I mean theres nothing in the tank now except a little betta fish im using to help reestablish beneficial bacteria. So im guessing its understocked and over filtered.
