You need to get a proper liquid reagent test kit that gives the values of the tests rather than just safe or acidic or alkaline. I'm assuming you are using test strips, correct?

Do what deeda said I heard the stripscare garbage and if you are cycling with the fish you plan on keeping try using tetra safestart but read up on it so you know what your doing
