I just found out that I'm going to need something ALOT bigger than my 55gal. for RTC and TSN boyh are already 12''. I'm thinking a pond is my only option which is doable but I have no idea what it will cost. Any ideas at all for me?

go to the local agro store get a big tub like 3-4 hundred gallons. they can stay in there for a wile.

Do ya have a swimming pool? They can stay in there for life :D

Actually I have an algae problem every summer...

Heating is the main problem with keeping them in an outdoor pond...it's possible of course but expencive. Actully what Chomps said isn't very far off the mark...a 12 to 18 foot dia. rigid wall above ground pool will easilly be big enough to house them both for life. That said....don't run right out in a blind pannic and buy whatever you can get your hands on...I own both a RTC and a TSN...They grow fast...yes...but not even close to as fast as some would like you to belive.

If you let the blue/green algae build up in the bottom to 3" - 4" thick your water will stay clear...

Pool is a good idea, but bury it in the ground as far as you can and use the excess dirt to berm around it to stabilize the temp. Your temps fluctuate a lot more than mine.

You will have to change the pool liner every couple of years depending on the quality you purchase.

Solar heating will work nice for you there also. A used solar panel for a pool or some PVC pipe and black paint.

A barrel filter or W/D and a planted sump and your almost done :D.

Thank you all for your input. Heating is my main concern. Hopefully they can stay in the 55 for a while longer. At the rate they've been growing I'm not sure, i hope you're right Wolf3101- Because right now looks can be deceiving.

Also try classifieds, ebay, craigslist, and if you have them in your area the local penny saver s well as the buy sell section here. you might find a bigger tank cheap enough to buy yourself some time while you weigh your options on pond, pool or something else.

Look at some of the threads by "necrocanis" he keeps some large beautiful cats in a pond.
