Sensory pits/HITH?

Cross the fingers and pray it is sensory pits

Early stage HITH, hmmm....When did the spots appear????? or better---->When the fish was purchase, were the spots on the fish?????Answering this question will greatly have us consider you buying some HITH calming medication...Because the holes appeared after purchase, it only means a disease(or virus) of some sort, which is treatable.....But, if the holes were already there, then al little more investigation will have to be done....Then, I will have to say 50/50 chance on the "spots" being HITH or Sensory Pits....

i got my red devil when he was just a baby.i noticed the small holes when i put him in his new tank about 2-3 weeks ago and they are right above his eye and on his body and right under his sensory pits on his forehead.but they are very small and very hard to see but are a little biger than the sensory pit holes

well guys i found this on the internet, its about oscars but i was wondering if maybe its for all bug cichilds....what do u think?

Health Problems: Hole in the Head Disease, or HITH, is a form of lateral line erosion disease. Normally healthy Oscars have a number of small holes around the area of the eyes, and along the lateral line. These holes become more pronounced as the oscar ages. They are perfectly normal, and should not be confused with HITH.

lol...bug cichlids. yep could be, pretty much any cichlid can get HITH as a result of poor water quality tho, so just be on the lookout if it gets worse

but my water quality is perfect and i feed him dinanichi pellets, but i will watch

what are your params? was the new tank 2-3 weeks ago cycled? if you are worried do twice weekly 50% water changes add salt and bump temp up 2-3 degrees 1 degree a day. i repeat IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT IT. if you are not worried about it than go on about your normal routine and hopefully it was just sensory pits, and see where that takes you.

alright ,for the moment i am not as worried but i will definitly keep an eye on this, does anyone else here have big cichlids with small holes around there lateral line and aroind the eye??
