could have just been having irritation from the hermits or starfish moving past it or finding its spot in the tank where it likes the flow and all the things to keep it happy glad it is doing well

Time to buy a better test kit zero nitrates is pretty much impossible and true nitrate readings with inverts is extremely important

that chocolate chip starfish is a bad mix with reefs. CCSF will eat soft corals, sponges, tubeworms, clams and other starfish - heard snails and crabs are fair game as well if CCSF is not fed appropriately. best bet would be to put it in a FOWLR tank that houses non-aggressive fish.
