Hemibagrus wyckii with aba aba knife fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It's not so much aggression thats the issue... but Territorial behavior. My aba aba is a chill guy.... he's prolly our most boring fish. But put another fish in the tank thats either edible ( non-armoured) or territorial (I found out with a flash pleco...) and he'd destroy it... he however left the whiptail catfish alone for over a year before we missed a few feedings. never owned a Wyckii but from what i understand they do fine... and then like a jardini will freak out and murder everything else in the tank once they hit ceratin sizes/age. the only fish that got the better of our aba was a pike cichlid once.. and she beat him all to heck in a matter of a 4 hour work shift. I've seen our aba bite goldfish in half w/out an issue.. and had a 3" aba noodle slurped up by a juvi TSN before.. I don't think you'de have time to seprate them when they started fighting.... it would be a quick fight ending in fatality of one or both fish imo.

If you had a few thousand gallons and a heavily decored tank... yeah it might work. generally people just don't have the kinda water space for "hyper-territorial" fish to allow tank-mates.

There will be no fish left to rehome lol...aba's are shredders. Soon as the wyki makes a move or bumps into the aba its all over :) its the abas jaws that are the worry not the fish so much itself. They cut like a hot knife through butter so when its over its over. Nothing left but pieces of catfish
