I just noticed something sharp protruding from my 8" male leo's disc from underneath, and on further observation I found a stinger sticking out under its disc just beside its mouth. I don't know who the culprit is at this point, but I am a lil worried. I netted him out placed him on a wet towel upside down and tried to pull the stinger out. But coz of the serrated edges, it was not coming out easily and I didn't want to hurt the ray. So there was about an inch of stinger sticking out of the rays disc and I'm guessing about an inch insider its body. I just clipped the stinger that was sticking out and left a small piece out for when I decide to pull out the rest. I don't know how it got stung on its underside.
The leo was feeding just before I noticed this, so it is in a good shape, but I just want to take the remaining stinger out of its body. Any ideas?? Mike ??
