hi,does anyone else keep the odoe, and,if so,what tankmates do you keep it with, what do you feed it.

thanks in advance mark

I had one a couple of weeks ago...they are awsome fish...they can be kept with anything that wont pick on them and fish that dont look like them...my odoe killed my jardini so i got rid of him...dont keep him with arowanas...i had a gar, pbass, juruense catfish, and widebar dat and they all got along.....but like i said DONT put them with any fish that resemble them such as arowanas, barracudas, and atf cuz they will get killed by the odoe...they have wicked teeth...GL

i have no personal exp with these fish but a good friend of mine has one. Awesome fish. Like baracuda says, dont keep it with similar shaped fish or these will be attacked (at least when they are similar sized/smaller). He keeps a 10" odoe with a TSN, polypterus and some eels. Also small plecos are left alone. From what ive seen his odoe has his periods when it comes to feeding. It used to take fish (live or frozen) without hesitation but now it likes shrimp better and leaves the fish for the polypterus. It shows in growth. His skyrocketed when it was on fish but now he doesnt grow much. It also eats mussels.

Great fish - one of my favorites. I had one over a few years ago. It grew rapidly from a little 3" guy to a chunky 9" in about 6 months. It was easily weaned off live foods onto krill and shrimp and was soon eating anything I threw in the tank (including cichlid pellets and frozen peas). It attacked food hard and fast which was very impressive when paired with its badass teeth. It left me with bleeding fingers on several occasions when I accidently let my hand brush the water and it mistook it for a piece of shrimp. Very personable for a characin.

ive got one now about 6 inches and ive had him for quite awile. i had some short beak gars that he didnt like to much he would snatch them up and pack them around the tank a couple times and let them go.i moved the short beak gars (hujetas) a species tank of odoes would be cool.

hi,i put a hujetas in with mine and he went mad.i had to take it out in approx 1 minute other wise the gar was a goner.heres a pic or 2 of mine.
