Herbie style overflow

I’m the even I may have installed my overflow box slightly too high, what are my options to lower the water level 1/8” roughly?

To mitigate the gyre effect in the overflow box itself, i used an ac110 sponge to prefilter my full siphon drains. You just have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesnt suddenly clog up one day.

As far as the height goes, not many options there imo. First thing that comes to mind is painstakingly using a router to cut all of the overflow weir teeth-slots slightly deeper so it will start drawing water just a little shallower...if that makes sense. But thats a lot of work and runs the risk of mangling the weir.

That sponge prefilter trick may help you out in that you can lower the water level in the box without the suction noise though...

Take off the weir that comes with the overflow box and use bulkhead strainer in it's place. That's about the only thing you can do short of cutting up the weir
