Yeah that was because i was short on money and i just put the gravel that came with it in. I was going to go with sand but i didnt want the problem with it getting sucked up in the filters. I may change it sometime but yeah i know what you mean lol it looks kinda stupid.

nice tank

you were mentioning wanting some floating plants ? id try some hornwort, easy to grow. very fast growing dosen't need co2 injection or a rich substrate and dosent need very bright lights can be planted in gravel of left free floating

haha its no problem. Im new just gettting into aquaria and im open to suggestions. Thanks
Zander- Thanks for that information. I will keep my eye out for it

Thank you BigShawn

They do sell tan and dark brown pea gravel as well as clay substrate. This would give you the colration and ample ability to grow live plants - all plants and trees have tannic acid. I've also read about ppl using Pete bags in thier filtration to create a blackwater/low ph enviorment. The lower ph - acidic enviorment is prime for most aquatic plants.

oh that makes sense... im gonna remove my carbon from my filters and see what that does... thanks for the info
