the way i see it, its basically a clear hot tub in my basement, maybe i would like goin for a dip

A quick/cheap way to get more brights from your "shop light", line the hood-thingy with aluminum foil (make sure reflective side out)... I did mine with just some sticky-spray and its super-brighter. I heard somewhere (zenzzo I think) that the reflective side of aluminum foil reflects 99% of light!

thanks for the tip! i couldnt find a reflector for one and the ones with them in it were way more. ill have to try it and as always ill get pics when i do
its a red tail catfish X tiger shovel nose and hes just a baby prob 5 months old, wait for the 1 year update!
How bout an update on tank and livestock? Water cleared up yet? Filter socks clogging less frequently? Filtration holding up properly with water perimeters?
everything is going well, the goldfish were an absolute nightmare. they were too weak for the flow and clogged every inch of my filter from my overflows to filtersocks and spray bars, wont do that again. luckily i got them all out (my catfish helped) i got 2 big amazon swords in there look okay but catfish digs them up once in a while, and its just my catfish and a 10" florida spotted gar in there. the water has cleared up well, and im only changing socks every 3 days now. i also got rid of socks at one end since they were tough to access and its going much better now. i need to find some beastly driftwood and some more big fish and then try to make everything look better. my one problem with the whole thing is how loud the overflow gurgling is, i need to try to work on it by cutting up the standpipe and getting some prefilter sponges should help a little. all in all im happy and m rtcxtsn is loving the room
Gurgle from the pipe stand inside the overflow? I corrected this gurgle in my pipe stand design by simply running some aerator tubing into the pipes and out the back of my tank lid just hanging.
I'm actually about to purchase myself some filter socks for my 125g as I don't think the pot scrubbies are getting all the micro floating crap in the water.
