Here we go again... New tank new journey...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IMO, the best investment you can make for your tank (aside from good lighting) is a pressurized Co2 system. With it, you'll get phenomenal plant growth and coloration. In addition, you'll deal with far less algae. Excel is a great product, but doesn't hold a candle to a pressurized system.

Are pressurised systems pretty expensive?

I'd like to go down that route at some point, but depends on the hassle and investment...?

The initial cost is usually what scares most people away ($100+ to get going). However, once it's set up there is very little you have to do once your needle valve is dialed in. Filling Co2 tanks is incredibly cheap (mine costs $3 to fill).

That's awesome, I'll have to do my research!

^ i've even seen some people go as far as to use large (5-10L or above) Co2 systems, so they can get away with refilling them once every few months...

I personally have 3x 1.5L bottles and 1x 2.5L bottle for Co2 so i can have one always running while i fill the other 3...

Sorry if I'm being daft, but where do you fill them?

I fill my 24oz cylinder at Sports Authority. With tax, it comes to $3.50. This typically lasts me 2 months (I run like 10bps). If I were to run 3-4bps, the tank would easily last 3-4 months.

Here's what Co2 does for growth.

Same tank today (3 months later). Yes, it might be time for a trim....lol

^ its amazing what high levels of Co2 will do for a tank, which is why i personally tend to run a lower BPS compared to most :)

Also, i rescaped the tank since i wasnt happy with iT, but pics later...

Paintball shops will have CO2 refilling station as well. I believe welding businesses does too, but not completely certain.
