Can't wait to see it up and running. Going to look awesome with the ram and tetras in it.

Hahahaha no the big blokes are going like the Jag, my mota, Salvini, and possibly a Carpinte (if I can get a nice one) or a big fat JD.

Just got back from Home Depot and this is what I got. I am using biscuits to hold the uprights to the top of the frame and the 3 & 1/2 inch bolts to secure both frame boxes together. Going back some time this week to pick up more 2x4s just for the supports and to get some 3/4" Birch finish plywood. Also I have some plywood for the top of the stand as well but not in the pics.
I will keep you guys updated on everything I do.:) Mods you can probably move this to the DIY section.:)

Ok update: I just clamped up the two frame boxes and added sand to the tank. The frame of the stand will be done tomarrow but i will have to have it sit overnight because I don't want to risk the glue and biscuits breaking. Also all the bolt hole have been drilled. Sorry for no pics yet because my sister took my camera. Hopefully I will have pics up tomarrow on what I have done. This thread should probably be moved to the DIY section Mods.

LOL why didn't you just shave the trim with like a dremmel. The inside lip does really nothing for structural support. Only the outer edge and top do.
The emperor is expendible but not the tank. If I screw up with the filter it's only a $50 loss vs $275 loss with the tank. :D How old is that tank? The glass looks kind of thin for a tank that size. Cannot wait to see the finished product. Are you painting the stand black?

Actually the glass is plenty thick 1/2" with 3- 1/2" glass supports siliconed to the the top frame of the tank. The stand will not be painted because I am not spending 70 bucks for a sheet of 10 ply birch finish plywood just to paint lol. I will be doing natural birch finish along with some mohagony trim finish peices along the base of the tank, corners of the stand and then the cabinet doors( which will be magnet hinged, so no metal crap showing lol.) For the backround was thinking try my hand at a styrofoam/cement 3D of a tree and rocks. I probably won't do this though, not enough time. So plan B is to do a double sided peice of plexi-glass painted with MONSTERFISHKEEPERS on it with the devil horned M underneath. The plexi is going to be black with white lettering.

Ok back with some pics. Sorry it took so long. My buddy helped me out because he's got a table saw and I let him bring home the wood and he cut everything too short. So went out and bought some new wood and was up all night cuttin them up, slotting them, then biscuiting along with gluing. Here's some pics.
