under a bridge in fl
figured i would start a thread to show my project boat.
might give others and "jd" ideas :)
im going for the mini bass boat look.
nothing is finished.lol

i was building this before i got back into fish keeping.
once i got back into fish i havent done anything to the boat. :irked:

boat leaked so i sanded the outside all to bare metal.
going to put rhino liner on it.

main problem with the floor is you walk on it.
so thats why i put the middle flooring on the ribs.
no more walking on the bottom.
i used all aluminum framing so its very light and will not rot or rust.
"every piece is removable"
all the aluminum legs fall on ribs so there is nothing on the actual floor.

also turned the front into one big deck.all wood will be painted/sealed.
will have a seat on a pole that is removable.
also plan to add boat carpet or indoor outdoor carpet.

very front, lid will flip up and im going to store the vests there.

next compartment is more storage.

middle one is the livewell.
got it used from another boat and cut it down to fit.
the cutoff is actually the front storage.i just screwed plywood as the bottom.

then there will be pole holders in front of the console.

then i got a center console with steering wheel from another boat.
my boat is 12' long and the s cable is 14'.
so its going to have to loop once under the flooring.
im going to add a waterproof box under the console for the cb and car radio.

then in the back the battery will be on one side, gas on the other side.

going to make a new transom.

motor like a 5 or 10 hp motor.plus trolling motor on front.

oh and front and rear anchors, all workable by driver with pulleys and rope.

i am also redoing the trailer.
new bolts,springs,rims,tires,wiring and lights.
and the best part,i made it a roller trailer.
has about 5 big boat rollers on it instead of two 2x4's.

sorry for the long post. :)

We had a 12'aluminum bluefin like that when i was a kid. Too many loose rivits and too many leaks we would have to bail it out with a coffee can every half hour. We tried several times sealing and pounding the rivits but with little luck. It would have been fine on a small lake. Lake Erie takes its toll pretty quickly on a boat like that so we said screw it and now have a 16' Lund. The Bluefin is still a nice boat for small lakes and reservoirs. Thats still a nice project boat. Good luck with it! Nice job on it so far, should be a nice little boat for ya!

I like. Very similiar to what I plan on doing.

I have thought about using alluminum for supports as well but how are you attaching to the boat?

yup sounds like a normal john boat Rockbass6. lol

jd,
each section is different
i wanted to be able to remove each section for cleaning or if something falls down there i can get it.

the front is kinda pinned in.
and on the front of that section i notched some notches in the aluminum.
then i attached some angle braces to the front of the boat.
tip the section and put it in front first.
make the brackets go in the metal.
set section down.
"can get pics if you dont get me" lol

the livewell section is screwed to the middle seat.
its removable with a screw gun.

middle floor will just be sitting there,so i can remove in the future.
most of the time someone will be standing on it so it wont go anywhere.

and if they move or rattle when on the water i will add some type of hold down straps in the corners.
:)

Hey what would you know midnight and another project hopefully this one turns out great like they usally do

are you filling any spare non storage space with foam? Just asking because it would help with sealent and floating.

Are you refering to GreaStuff, that liquid expanding foam? If so Im thinking about using that on my boat as well but it is pretty expensive for the amount Id need.

ya i planned to drill a hole in the top of each seat and spray foam in each seat.
if by can was to costly i think they sell mix your own kinda thing somewhere.lol
i used pvc to go under the seats, can see in some pix.not cut in pix.
i put them in first then plan to spray.
pvc is so the water still drains.
:)
