heres my project boat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
so this project was on hold for lack of funds

i needed springs,rims,tires,front wheel,for my trailer

well my neighbor bought a new trailer and gave me his old one
:headbang2

i was going to just swap the susp and stuff onto mine but this one is beefier
:D

its all tube frame and my old one is u framed

most of the bolts are rusted and need to be replaced

and the back is rusted so im going to cut it off and add new metal right behind the springs
the new trailer is longer so cutting off that much should make it about the same as the old one

then i have to move the rollers, lights, winch and stuff onto the new trailer

just figured i would show it
:)
first one is my old trailer
2nd 3rd pics are new trailer

Good job so far. A couple of thoughts - if you are going in saltwater, that boat will be toast no matter what, as aluminum oxidizes into a powdery substance when salt is involved. I also think foam sprayed under the plywood is a bad idea unless you aren't keeping the boat long term. Reason being any trapped water - especially fresh water (rain, lake) will rot wood faster than you can blink. It's easier to replace the boards if they aren't stuck to the foam. You can cover the bottom of the board in sheet plastic to prevent sticking, but you still have the trapped water issue. Trust me, I have a wooden boat.

What power are you going with?

Best of luck with the project, keep us up to date.

FYI - get the reggie for your neighbors trailer if he has it, I can't tell you how many times guys junk trailers & keep the registration for those future $100 trailers you find on Craigs list.

thanx

it will never see sw

no styro by ply, just inside metal part of benches

power unsure, want to find a 5-10hp for it,thats why im adding steering
i have a 2.2 right now
it screams on the water, but barely makes a wake

he said he had no reg
i just gotta get it weighed and get a homemade trailer reg

:)

Looks like it will be a nice fishing rig! That boat will probably only draft 6-8 inches with the motor up, very nice.:headbang2
