If the tap is 7.4 why is the tank 8.4' there must be something in the tank or filter making it do this???

the tank is a 6x2.5x2.5 while the sump is 5ft. I got an RTG, a 10 inch motoro, 3 datnoids, 5 myleus, 2 red hooks and a Sexfaciatus.

i have no clue up to now, it's the same thing with my 75gal.

the tank has been running since 2007, i guess the fish got used to the PH already.

I would try pouring straight tap water in to a bucket and test the ph after 1hour to see if the tap water is naturally buffered to that.

If not then it must be substrate or decor IMO.

Thanks for the tip toby! Will do that tom, i tried using ketapang leaves to lower the PH before but wasn't successful because I got impatient and took out the leaves and it was staining my water.

tested it and after a day it did went up to 8.4:eek:

I don't know if I should still adjust it since my fish got used to it already:confused:.

I would say that the "native" ph of the water is 8.4 then, the water company or conditions to get it to you are artificially lowering it and the buffering of the water is returning ti 8.4.

If the fish are living in it then I would leave it as it, you might want to let your water change water sit for a day to return to 8.4 before adding it to allow for stability.

Check the nitrate of the tap water too!

Stick with the stability
