That's not true, H. carpintis is a totally different species than H. cynoguttatus, Carpintis is a related Mexican species, but has nothing to do with the "texas" common name. People should not use common names and this kind of confusion would not happen. That's how unintentional hybrids occur because people confuse two totally different species because the use of common names.

Ever heard of breeding a Carpinte with a Carpinte? Now that would make a nice looking cichlid.;)
