Herichthys pantostictus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice, I like the look and the fact you don't see them all over the place. I enjoy keeping some uncommon fish too. "Not that there's anything wrong with that!"

Geez, you love pikes so much you had to find a texas group fish with lent spotting on it's face!!!

Very nice. They are very elegant looking fish.

Yes they are! As soon as I saw it I immediately fell in love with it. I'm a sucker for Herichthys species though. . .

That's a kool fish, Peanut. I love their face when they get real big.

They definitely get better with age!
Hopefully I'll be able to find 'her' (guessing its a female) a male, then maybe she will color up a little more. :)

They are even more so uncommon around here. The rarer the fish, the more pull it has on me. I've always wanted this species though, so I was stoked when I found her. Just wish there had been more. :( Thanks for the kind words!

I didn't even think about this till you mentioned it. Now it makes sense why I love her so much!

VIVA LA CRENICICHLA!

Doesn't this thread belong to the hybrid section? Kudos for crossing lent to something else though :ROFL:

Very cool fish. What's her temperament like?

Typical labridens type herichthys. They don't tolerate other herichthys real well unless its a huge tank and they tend to kill everything when breeding. They are somewhat bloat sensitive like most fish from that area. As long as you provide clean water, good food, and a tank were they are not picked on it is seldom an issue though. I keep my pair in a divided 75g. They do not get very large, 6-7" for most females and 8-9" for most males.

Yeah, she is pretty laid back. The guy that got them said he had six of them at 3" in a 30gal. I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. :( She is the one that offed the other five.

Generally doesn't bother other fish, easy to feed, and really responsive to me already. Simply awesome fish for sure!
