Hermit crab ideas.

A crab is a crab, mudskippers spend most of their time out of water does that mean they belong in this section?

LAND HERMIT CRABS. The name says it all. I even posted a link about the species. Learn to read.

I think I might skip out on the bonsai tree idea even though it would be cool. I don't want the crabs to eat it or damage it. And after watching my largest crab climb onto the roof and hang there upside down for 4 hours, I'm pretty sure they will damage the tree. I was going to use coconut fiber and play sand but someone recommended using reptile clay. it's not actually clay though. It's basically sand that you add water to and it hardens a little bit and stays that way even when it drys out. It is still sand but maintains its rigidity so they can burrow easily. Any thoughts on that?

If it is the excavator clay then no dont use it. That stuff becomes hard as rock and they wont be able to burrow in it. I would stick with the coconut fiber and sand it works well.

I think I'm going to use very fine sand and coconut fiber. Tried and true method so might as well. Then I'm going to try and find a fake bonsai tree. There is a store near me that sells all kinds of small fake plants.

:banher: There is also a freshwater invert section that this would also be ok in. Just sayin' :chillpill:

Freshwater invertebrates

Land hermit crabs. They never go in the water.

I understand that, I'm just saying there isn't too much of a difference between the species other than one lives on land and one lives in water.

i agree you would've gotten more traffic if this were posted in the invert section instead of the reptile section. more likely to find invert lovers there then here

...... That is a pretty huge difference.

Perhaps but that section is for fresh water inverts. Not land inverts. These guys fall under the "other exotic pets" section more so than the freshwater inverts.

we were just trying to help, i always want whatever section that's going to give me the most answers within the guidelines. i doubt a mod would've moved it from there to here
