My ph is 7.4 but my water is soft KH 80, gh 70 ish.

Thanks for the info. How fast do they grow? I read 12" in 18 months does that sound right?

easily. i purchased mine in september of '08, they probably hatched in april or june. by mid 2009 my female that i kept was about 9". JD has the rest of mine and they're just at larger if not bigger, espeically the male. my female is about 10-11" now

I got mine very tiny, maybe just at 1" (or maybe even a bit smaller) at the end of January 2010. It's been about 2 months now and the largest are over 3". They never stop eating. Make sure to really keep up with the water changes!

Thanks guys this is very helpful since finding info on line about these guys is hard. I do 30-40% wc every week some times more. My tank is over filtered too. my nitrates are never over 20ppm I keep them at 10-15ppm.

THanks guys if you can thing of any other bits of info let me know.
