a heron is eatin my fish plz help or im gonaa kill it3

How big is the pond, Herons are a real problem because once they find a food source they keep coming back and can feed to about 30-36" deep. If the pond is small enough us bamboo poles and garden shade netting to create a raised pavilion over it, They can be attractive and have the added benifit of reducing temperature swings and slowing algae growth.Very few herons will go under canopies like that.

i live right on the bank of a river and herons are a real problem in my ponds. there are some motion activated sprinklers, one brand scare crow is pretty good.or you could put a net over it,or make a maze o fishing line that works too.good luck.

it is 20x20x3ft deep how high can the canopy be off the pond? like enough for me to woalk under it or really low?

just found out da it is illegal to kill a hering a felony:swear: :swear:

I have used Canopy frames like this one, they come in several widths, up to 22' and you can make them as long as you want. make the roof from garden shade cloth and the side either of the same or mosquito netting, put the side on curtain rods so that they can be bundled and tied back for display or access, it actualy looks prtty nice and if you make it 10' longer than the pond you have a bugscreened picnic area as well.

I think it is illegal to kill herons every where, but all the herons that come to my uncles pond only come once and never come back, if you know what I mean.:naughty: But like guppy said, one they find your pond they keep coming back. So you should do something fairly quick cause the can clean out your pond pretty fast.

Home Depot has netting for use on fruit trees that you can suspend over your pond and it's not that noticeable. Just keep it a foot or so above the pond and make it so they can't get under it at the sides. If you stake the sides you can use bamboo supports that they sell for growing plants. I don't know if those plastic owls or snakes will work as a scarecrow or not.

Tie a grenade to each fish. The damn bird gets one meal. You didn't kill the bird, the fish did.

get a jack russel or fox terrier and teach it to chase the herons, they smart and it will keep em busy too.
