Heros notatus update

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No I don't mind F1s, wild fish are more of a challenge anyway. I have crazy hours but I will re-vent them 2moro night and see about maybe swapping one when I pick up my heroina friday night. I will ask him to check for a female and isolate it for me in the meantime.

They usually have solid faces and gills -- no spots. Females will usually have the nice rusty color on the underside of the gills and chin. They do have the chin strap (the black lines that run length-wise down the underside of the chin from the bottom of the mouth to the end of the gills), just not spots.

Unfortunately I've never owned those! I would guess the females would have solid faces like most other Heros, but you never know.

I just talked to Mike the manager at 50 Fathoms, he personally has 3 pairs in his 180 and is a complete severum nut case. He said his females started w/ some red spots and they faded out as they grew. His pairs are the reason I got into notatus really. He does have some left at the shop and he's going to isolate me one w/ virtually no spots so I can swap. I did look at my 4 b4 work, 1 definitely has only 1/3 the spots as the other 3 and a much shorter rounded anal fin.
