it's altum season here in singapore too!! but i've no more tanks now..

just to update, the fries had their 1st meal last night, and the male is now trying his stuff with the other female in the tank!!

aren't they just the best. mine have tried but the pike hates that idea. working on getting their own tank so I too can breed. too bad your overseas but keep the growing pics coming.

they're great! and they breed like convicts!! below's their second spawn 10 days after the 1st batch turned free swimming...

for the male, there're red round spots on the bottom of the gill plate.. whereas in females there aren't..

for my male, he only has a few spots, but i remembered seeing some males with more of these spots..

i've been looking for this fish, not this specific one, but a pair of h. rotkeil i saw in an lfs a while a go. At the time, and until now, i had no clue what they were. Now that I know, I am planning to order from Rapps sometime soon. Great pictures by the way.
