Saw my gold dust today so it looks like everyone survived the treatment and looks healthy tonight will be big water change and filter maintenance. Wedsday night will be moving in the electric blue acaras.... dunno about the elliots yet may give filters a week to build up more before I add them too.

Then the update I have been promising was gonna do it sunday but I shattered a ball joint on my car and waited 3 hours for a dang tow truck...

Glad you guys like the wood Is the best piece I have ever found. The left hand side has two legs that are openish but hollow and lead down to that little cave that goes almost the width of the tank. The top like I sad forms a bowl about 10-14 inches across that spans to the log looking part which has an opening up top behind the brick and the large jagged opening thats visible. There is also a slit in the bottom my female sens butt hangs out of from time to time that I intend to widen.

I have a second anubias nana on top that has exploded growth wise being by the light and will likely split again soon the one on the side has also doubled since its placement.

My biggest issue now is my giant vals trimming them supposedly can make them melt but if I take them out of the tank they are taller than me and I am 5'7"

I trim my vals all the time - at every single weekly water change. Sometimes (not always) the tops melt a little bit afterwards but they explode so much that I don't really care. I regularly rip entire val plants out because they are so out of control. I have a love-hate relationship with them. :)

EDIT: here is a pic from the other day. You can see my vals in the background, some trimmed shorter with a little fuzzy growth at the ends, a couple slightly melty at the ends, but they are very happy overall. Too happy. ;) I trim ALL of mine, some much shorter. So you can see that they still look fine for the most part visually.

I love My vals I like them a little long but they have gotten ridiculous. A little legth lets the bichirs hide in em if they wanna float and makes the plants spread out at the bottom so fish can weave through the stalks.

Just realised I have no shots of the right side of my tank that drift wood is being held up by around 15 pieces of stacked lava rock with 2" wide pvc caves running under it for the polys. (is where my gold dust is most of the time)

when you trim do you use scissors... I typicly trim my plants with the edge of a finger nail (that whole knives are bad for produce thing) and I never know what kind of grease may be on scissors.

The connecting roots of the vals are hard to cut with your fingernails, and I think the plants are less likely to melt if they are cleanly cut vs. smooshed. These also work well for sword plants, and I have a hard time pinching those off too.

I have a 65 gallon tank, it is pretty tall with the stand and all, so I need the length of the long scissors to cut things down low. I am armpit deep in my tank when I am working on the plants. ;)
