I woke up to this scene this morning. the convict is protruding out of the gills of my cichla mono. upon close review, I see that if i yank it out in either direction, i'll tear the gill slit, (which isnt torn at the moment). i was thinking I'd wait for the convict to die before I pull it out but should I go throught he gills or the mouth? i have no idea how long it's been in there. I have my fishing equipment out (pliers and such) but im not sure what approach I should take. I'll never underestimate the appetite of a pbass again.

haha, so my mother visits my apartment, and sees the situation, laughs at me, reaches in, and yanks it out, both fish are perfectly fine. the pbass is already eating (blackworms, which are more palatable). it took her roughtly 10 seconds to solve the problem that i had pliers and a net out for.

He might be screwed, but as a fisherman myself I would wait for the con to die and watch the bass for stress. I would try to continue him through the gill cover since everything is flowing that way Iwould think a less risk of major injury. Good luck with that man. Maybe you will get lucky and have him spit it while you wait.

Thats kind of odd....I would have just let the pbass eat the convict.

Yea so would I. I would have pulled the Con out head first so the scales dont cut the P Bass. Good thing your mom fixed everything for you.

it's a riot. I'm 24 and have been doing this since I was 13 and as usual, who solves everything but mom? the fish isnt screwed, it is swimming normally and nothing seems to be wrong with the mouth. my superhero ninja mom pulled the con through the gill slit instead of back through the mouth like you said. moms know best. hahahahhaha

if you look at the pics more closely, you'll see that the con refused to go to the stomach and was protruding from the gill slit. he wasnt going to be eaten, if he was in the mouth totally, id have let it go.

That's pretty awesome. Like the happy ending that both fish are ok too.

Thats called fish drama:WHOA: way to go mom:clap  U got lucky downset u got to keep both fish:headbang2
