H. Fossilis also known as stinging catfish.
These fish are very hardy and adaptable, they are found in paddy fields, irrigation canals, muddly puddles, as well as clear rocky streams. All over the place.
Predatory in nature, are quite shy, will hide most of the time. Not a very active species.
They get their name stinging catfish, as they use their pectoral fins to stab if caught, and can inject venom that causes immense pain.
Have been stung once during a collection trip for native fish.
