Rhytisma could be tiny more aggressive which might be good with panamensis but not sure with heterospila

Could you have Rhytisma instead of the Robertsoni ? These fish you mention are the type I want to keep when (or if ) I get a new tank set up.

I would try it if you can find them. Any cribroheros species would probably work. They aren’t a very aggressive genus. Also consider rostratus. Very peaceful and beautiful.

Therein lies the rub. Here in the UK things are a bit up in the air at the moment, Brexit/covid causing shortages of many items. Even before these problems, CA cichlids were a bit of a niche market, Malawi or Tanganyikan , no problem. There is very little in the way of specialist UK based web sites, and most of the shops that I used many years ago have long gone. At least using US based sites gives me a chance to gain more knowledge before diving in again.
