Yeah I read through that. It's certainly not the exhaustive list. Just trying to get more ideas. At the shop, we've also kept 14 inch iridescent sharks with em too. Was pretty neat.

I'm currently leaning towards:

BGK
Flagtail Prochilodus
Clowns
Yellow labs or Bala Sharks
10 common pleco
4 inch Royal Pleco.

dont do yellow labs (malawi mbuna) unless you have high ph, which wouldnt be good for any of the other fish on your stocklist

Yeah, I just already own some, that breed, in a ph of about 7.5. They're on the chopping block, might just do rivertank manifold system , and go with loaches/plecos/1 flagtail.

Now that's the loach spirit.:headbang2

And do just the Royal Plec. The 10" common might bully the smaller Royal and add a lot of bio-load/mass to the tank.

My project moves on! The 72x24x18 tank has been fully resiliconed, and two braces put in. I'm having my custom lid ordered on Monday. I'm going with a weird top, Basically a 4 foot glass top in the middle, and on each end, a 20g plastic hood. It'll allow me 3 access panels for feeding and what not. and it allows me to put filters on the end if I want.

Now tomorrow, I'm going to buy the pvc required to make the rivertank manifold. What I'm trying to decide. Do I go with 1 inch or 3/4 inch pvc. I'll be running 4 maxijet 1200s. I'm hoping this is enough movement combined with my other filtration.

I've been taking pics along the way. Sort of a tank resurection. The tank itself is over 20 years old, and half inch thick glass. I will say though, it has been very rewarding getting to design the top how I want etc.

I'll try and get some pictures of the build up soon.

Scored a stand on craigslist for 20 bucks. So it's now setup in my living room. I'm still waiting on the 4 foot glass top, and lighting to be made :D

I still need 1 more powerhead. SO i'm on the lookout. At the moment, I'm getting a weird current pattern. Flows down the tank half way. Then it like vortexes and turns around. I suspect it's because it's pulling in water on the missing powerhead, and ac110 i have at that end as well.

I'm having problems with my river tank setup. It seems that the current goes half way accross the tank, and then it whirls around and goes back to the powerhead side.

It's like the current makes a U turn.

The specifics.
tank: 6Lx2Wx18"H
1" pvc manifold.

5 outlets for powerheads.
3 inlets with giant sponges.

powerheads 4 maxijet 1200s
1 koralia 3 powerhead.
1 outlet is open at the moment.

Also on the same side of the tank, there is an aquaclear 110 to aid the current. The intake for it, is just normal, not built into the manifold.

1 foot in, from the left side(the side with all the powerheads/ac 110. Is the return spraybar from my eheim 2026. Also aiding the current.

I also have another eheim 2026 that I'm going to install on the tank. I also have another 2 aquaclear 110s that I can put on.

Basically I'm looking for opnions/setups from other people's river tanks? I've read martin's article several times. He even mentions getting stronger powerheads.

The powerheads i currently have seem weak. However, i suspect that the intake of the ac 110, and koralia pump and 1 output of the manifold that doesnt have a powerhead installed yet.

I think i may try to connect the ac 110 to the 1 output still available.

I'll take some pics and post them soon. gonna find a light, since mine are still being built.
