i have been doing everything to clear up my foggy tank. tried drops changing water, i've tried buying a new carbon chemical thingy nothing is working i have a aqua clear 300 filter for a 33 galon tank please any ideas would be great

How long have you had it set up? It could still be cycling if it hasnt been long. Any chance of overfeeding? how often do you do water changes? what substrate is there.

Sorry so many questions just wanted to cover what bases I know. Nothing more annoying than a cloudy tank:)

One of my 110s is cloudy and I would be concerned but it tests great.

The reason that this tank is cloudy is because I bought 75 polini that were afraid and would hide when ever someone would come up to the tank so I have been over feeding them to get them to understand that when they see humans it means food.

It took 2 weeks to get them to come up for food and now I can start feeding them normaly and I expect that it will take at least 4 50% water changes to get the tank back under control and even then I don't expect a totaly clear tank for a few weeks.

I have a 90gal tank at a friends coffee shop and I couldn't figure out why it would never stay clear . This went on for 3 months until we were watching the security tapes and found out that one of the night employees was feeding the fish because she liked to see them eat. It wasn't a huge amount of extra food but it was enough to keep it cloudy.

I hope this long winded reply will show how a tank can be cloudy and healthy. Test your water and if it tests good then make shure you don't feed more than your fish WILL eat in 2 min.

Works for me

Sounds like bacterial bloom if it is a white cloudiness. If tank is relatively new or new filter it is a natural, harmless but annoying part of cycling.Large water changes never help.It is usually an imballance between the amount of bacteria and food i.e.to much bacteria and it will subside given regular water changes and careful monitoring of food.

See but thats what i don't understand i feed only feeders because i have two wolf fish and a clown knife... i dunno it just doesn't make any sense the tanks been running for over 2 months now.

Has it been cloudy the whole 2 months? or just recently? Well if your fishes are ok then you should not be worried. If you keep trying to clear it up with chemicals then that won't be good for your fish and sometimes it gets worse. Just get a smaller micron filter material and place it in your filter to trap all the debris and waste, and just be patient and wait... your tank will clear up!

Overfeeding, Underfiltration..

It keeps re-cycling itself over and over.. Add another filter, feed less, do water changes, and be patient.. Technically nitrifying bacteria takes on average 4 to 6 weeks to establish.

You don't use any 'quick-fix' chemicals like 'Cycle' do you?
