wow freshwater tarpon. im guessing somewhere in florida? is it totally freshwater or brackish?

its common for them to be in fresh water, even in lakes. same fish as the sw ones.

attach the floro leader with a Uni to Uni knot. loop knots really arent the best to attatch braid, unless its a loop to loop, but even then it takes a certain technique to make sure it doesnt dig in or the knot doesnt break.

Since you were fishing near a floodgate with jigs, I assume you were snook fishing?

actually no, I was fishing for tarpon and jacks. the tarpon hit jigs. people just don't know it...

here's a tarpon I caught on Father's Day in freshwater. He was super heavy. Somewhere around the high 30's or just about 40#'s. Caught on my lightest spinner on 20# braid.

Wow, what a beautiful fish. By the way, nice headhunter.
