Math makes me feel inbred or something :(

+1 :irked:

but yeah ewurm was right.. the 10mph thing makes it way simpler..

This is the way I solved it.

(Distance = Velocity * Time) is the main formula

Dtotal = D1 + D2

Dtotal=V1*(Tf-T1i) + V2*(Tf-T2i)

Dtotal=2miles
V1= 4mph
V2= 6mph
T1i= 0
T2i= 15min= 1/4 hr
Tf= ?

Just plug in the known values and solve for Tf. I got Tf as 21 min. Then the initial time of 1:00 plus 21 min = 1:21 which is what ewurm got.

That's probably the correct way to express it algebraically, but I am far removed from algebra class. +1

Ugh, math f-ing sucks! I aced algebra in college bc it was basically a review course from high school and there were no story problems. Story problems suck! Trig and physics are my worst enemy...

I love math and science. I hate abstracts like writing a paper about literary piece. The teacher poses a question like "What symbolism did you find in the spade"? My response is "If you hate the book from the beginning, then a spade is just a spade." I got an F. Funny how I scored highy on ACT English, but always got C's in English? I hate subjective assignments.

lol, thats what you get for bein a smart ass :grinno:. I'm with you though. I prefer science and math over english anyday.

they like to give you testing on the mathy wordy problems for alot of jobs,any good sites or advice on how to get good at this stuff.

Finding a text book would be a good idea. Any used book store would be a good start.

At 1:21pm the two children would be exactly 2 miles apart. With the radios having a 2 mile range, the children would still be able to talk to one another.:grinno:

See, I am the complete opposite. I love english, history, and art. I hate math and I suck at it. I hate how stupid it makes me feel. I'm not stupid! :(
