The cranial profile is different. Lepidota have a more concave profile between the nape and snout. Saxatilis is straight to rounded.

Lepidota

Saxitilis have a better defined humeral blotch. Black circled by gold. Lepidota it is not as well defined and has spangles throughout it. Also, note the long, curved sub-orbital stripe on the lepidota.
