Hey sump users: Do you do less water changes than canister users?

i'm running a pro clear 300 sump on a 55g ca/sa cichlid tank and do a 30-40% water change weekly. i don't know all the technical stuff that the other members do, but i know i'm extremely over filtered (ya right, no such thing as too much filtration) and i feel that a sump can handle a larger bio load allowing for me room in over filtering, but water changes should still be maintained. after a week my nitrates aren't high at all, i could very easily stretch it to every two weeks, but after a week so much evaporation has occured that instead of just toppin it off, i do a water change/gravel vac. thats just what i do tho

I use 3 eheim 2228s on my 100; I only need to service them once every 6 month. 30% water change weekly though; can't escape that.
