Why are pleco no good? Mines in with one and 3 cory cats . Not had a problem yet been 6 months.

maybe for a 40 gallon too small for pleco? get a small one they grow very slowly anyways.

Sengals don't get over 12" so u should be good and a Pleco is boring get something else like a cichlid and u need to make sure what ever u get isn't small enough to fit in the bichirs mouth

If you like plecos I always go with Royals , they stay fairly reasonable sized and are strict veggies compared to commons and a majority of the other species out there. otherwise bristlenose might work, they stay small enough to live in a 40. I concur a 40 is big enough for a Sen, I would get him a buddy. I regret selling my 2, they where a hoot to watch interact.
