I rarely post here anymore because its so volatile lol. Everytime a post is made about native fish an argument breaks out concerning local laws, capture methods, tank size, etc. Im too hard headed to pass on a negative poster so I just keep quiet. Gotta keep in mind that arguing online is like the special olympics. Even if you win youre still a retard.

I think the problem is self proclaimed experts from other forums for some reason feel the need to come here and straighten everyone out, impose their views, or flame someone for something that is none of their business. And they dont care how many newbys or even fairly knowledgeable people they run out of the hobby or out of an otherwise Great forum. Why not just live and let live, if they cant make a nice comment, keep their mouth shut, and stay at home.

I can't imagine who you could be talking about Jim? Just to clear up a few things. I've been on this forum since 2005 so I'm not sure you could say I'm from "other forums" and I don't recall a single person in this subforum proclaiming to be an expert (however I've seen people refute the claim a couple of times in the past few of days). When you say "straighten someone out" do you mean to say assist with ID and help the administrators of the forum here keep out hot water when it comes to the law?
I don't know of anyone trying to drive people away from the hobby but sorry Jim some people think it's bad for the hobby (and native fishes) to allow the law to be broken especially in a forum where young impressionable minds are formed. Some people feel it's also bad to just sit back and have the same young impressionable minds go through their teen years thinking a green sunfish is a bluegill.
In short yes Jim, forums can be places for fun and games but they have roots in member based education. Misinforming people on forums I believe is inherently bad for people, bad for the forum and in no way promotes education, learning or the health of native fishes.
I'm sorry we don't see eye to eye on this matter but when you bash someone for flaming in a post specifically designed to flame...isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

Sorry, i had to go back and read what i posted that you are reffering to, as i didnt remember typing YOUR name, or anyone elses for that matter, nor did i mention any other specific sites or forums, in particular, just general comments based on what was said in the post i quoted. and i cant imagine why you would feel that i was speaking about you since your credentials seem to be impecable. Im so sorry if you felt my comments were directed at you, i harbor no ill feelings toward you at all.

Also, i dont think im the only one who thinks people are being driven away. since the post youre reffering to which i quoted, was another member who stated the reason he didnt use this sub-forum was because of all the arguments started by Someone quoting Laws, etc. in such a way that was obviously abrasive to Him, there are just a few who are not really afraid to speak out for fear of being banned for what they say, but i think that is in violation of their first ammendment rights. Although i could be wrong, i usually am and I am not afraid to admit it.

Actually Jim I didn't feel comments were specific towards ME but rather a group of people. Not sure it's "passive aggressive" but clearly "defensive".

So as not to continue this in any wrong direction i will say this.
1. I am relatively new to Native fish keeping, not to keeping fish
2. As such, i will admit my enthusiasm for this hobby may have been abrasive to some, or seemed as intrusion, if so im sorry, that is not in keeping with the spirit of the hobby. And make no appology for pursueing a hobby aggresively, that deals with the love of nature and its resources.
3. On numeruous occasions i have witnessed, and been the brunt of attacks by "Better" qualified individuals, for saying or doing somthing they felt was wrong, and not in a nice way, but more seemingly out of disgust.
4. I refuse to name names or organizations because that serves no purpose at this point. but in reflection would not change a thing other than, being much more careful who i trusted with what i had to say.

I wish you the best in the hobby but reciprocity is king in small groups of friendly people and "Do unto others as you have others do unto you" are words to live by. If you will be aggressive you can expect the same in return.

I really dont know what youre referring to, and i hate to see you so angry, asking on one hand to be treated fairly and then threatning on the next to always be mean to me and have your friends do the same, Its really too bad, you feel this way, it really doesnt hold with the spirit of the hobby, But as you said earlier, this is just the internet, I do this Hobby for fun, and can continue as long as i choose or tear down my tanks tommorrow, and also as i said ive learned a lot about the nature of some people , which ones to trust and which ones to watch. Ive learned where to get whatever i want from anywhere in the country. so i guess be as mean as you want, ive got nothing to lose and youve got nothing to gain. And as for being aggressive, i would never dream of it, Im just a peaceful fish loving country boy
