Hi all, getting into puffers!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sounds good :D

The T. Miurus was mentioned to me by someone I know who's owned puffers for a while and he said he's always wanted one but has trouble finding them. I searched more and everything I've read from people who've had them said they really liked their personality and I also like that it'll comfortably fit in the 40B and is freshwater. All +'s to me so I can't wait :D

Just need lights (looking into a cheap 36" dual T5HO fixture and running only 1 bulb or single T5HO fixture), driftwood, plants, and to decorate it as closely to what I'd expect a West African/Congo biotope to look like. Really looking forward to it all :)

He will be very comfortable in his 40 breed, I think that may be optimum size for them actually. Suggested minimum 30 absolute minimum 20g long. So have you been able to locate one in your area? A good place to look if you don't mind shipping is aquabid.com but if you see one you got to grab right away or it will be gone.

That's what I was hoping to hear, that the 40B would be a good size for it. It'll stay alone in it just to make it comfortable and hopefully see it's personality come out a bit :)

There are a couple places locally I've been talking to that say they should be able to order one in for me.

I've also considered just going through aquabid.com or wetspottropicalfish.com (recommended by a friend who's ordered through them with success before). Wet spot has one now and I've been in touch with them. They said they get one occasionally so I'm considering them currently

Still up in the air as to where to get it from, though. Thoughts? :)

Ive heard really good things about the wet spot. I know some people who have succesfully ordered from them, and they had nice things to say. I would try and get the congo from somewhere local first cause if you get it mailed they are overnighted so its about 25-30 dollars. Try and get a few places to special order and see where gets in first and its general health and color. For puffers its often good to be choosy since they are wild caught and can be get ill just from the stress of shipping.

Thanks, working on it currently. I've called a few stores locally and seeing who can definitely get it and everything :)

I was also worried about shipping stress with it, we'll see how it all goes. There are 4-5 businesses now that I'm in contact with to get one :)
