Dont feel bad just get a male to go with it. I bought four at 2" and my male colored up within days. The other three turned out to be females so I am going to give them a few more months and sell off the least desirable two he dosent prefer to mate with.
so does anyone know if all males around 3-4inchs get the black spots?how many?i ask a lot of questions as ive had my juvis a long time and finding more dovii in brisbane,qld where i live is very hard.

i would wait to get an accurate sex, the females will be a more goldish color, were as the males will have the blue , and green spangles,NOT MY FISH...obviously..just using as a reference.
Mine turn dark like the one in the foreground when the lights are off. My male turned eletric bluish green(neon colors) when it was a little over the two inch mark. This is what my male looked like around the 2" mark, no mistaking.

Thanks all & pihananut i must say whoever thought ur little fella dovii,was a female is f*** dumb.Today i found a 4 inch male 4 sure so i think looking at my others they are females after all.He has eaten cichlid gold greedily almost straight awy so i am very happy.Post some pics soon.Thanks all 4 ur help.
