Hi back at ya, RD!! Our horses are doing fine. Wow, a 2 feet long mane, I bet that mane is gorgous all brushed out. Did you have to use a step ladder to reach it?? LOL
No, I bet she put her head down for you and lapped up all of the attention!!
no step ladder with her.... she is about 16.2 h.h. .... she is very laid back and sweet...tommorrow on to the next..they all need a good grooming...before their winter fluff comes in...do you have cold snowy winters ?...here we have feet accumilating starting about nov. 1st....

We have cold icey/snowy winters. Our horses are starting to get furry already. We have to keep a winter weight blanket on the oldest mare, her hair isn't very thick anymore and she gets cold. I'm sure our new spoiled and pampered city slicker mare will need a blanket too, but my chubby mare hates a blanket and sweats if you put one on her. It normally does not snow until December or sometimes late November. It can accumulate, but 6 to 8 inches at a time are common with it melting after a week or so. Occasionally we get a freak 22 inch snow storm, but we have had more ice storms the last few years and I have had to get a generator to keep my Discus tanks going. We lose power a lot!! Last year we had 3 long power outages lasting around 28 hours each.

Maybe i will look into putting a blanket on Lucy since she has lost weight... we always had blankets just incase... but never used them...just because when you start using you need to continue... All electrical lines are getting old now... even though they replace it is just replacing on antiquated system... no one wants to spend the money ...but we need to have wires buried underground to solve the problem.... we also bought a generator... too many times ice storms took the power out.. i also have parrots and 29 fish tanks.. so even if we never use the generator i have peace of mind knowing i have it... are you near the mountains or is your terrain flat... so pretty in IOWA...

Rolling hills, lots of timber, we are located on the Des Moines River. There is some good flat farmland north of us. Iowa is a combination of rolling hills, bluffs, and flat. We are 90 miles southeast of Des Moines Iowa.

Yes we have tornados and we had a really bad flood this summer too. We down in the southeast corner of Iowa, very close to the Missouri border and Illinois border as well.

Thats one thing that is very rare in NY.. thats all i kept hearing about... Missouri flooded and tornado activity was off the charts.. i am glad you were all okay,.i would be pertrified for the horses.. i bring mine into the barn if the thunderstorm is severe.. and with a tornado that may be the opposite of a good idea..you just never know and of course theres not even time to decide.well have a nice day and talk to you soon..

Look at all the time Sue has now that she only has one fish tank. You shouldhave plenty of time to read all of these posts since your not doing water changes.

LOL, you'd think so wouldn't you?? ;) I actually have a 2 tanks running...I had to borrow my daughter's 24 hex to house the 100 German Blue Ram juvies I got from Expo. They are taking frequent water changes. But trust me, it's a piece of cake compared to Discus.

My son has the stand nearly completed for my 178...I'll be glad when I can set it up and move all of my plants from the 40. They are taking a hit in there because they are overcrowded and fighting for light. I'll move the rams to the 40 when it's free. As you know, the Rams are pre-sold...except the 3 pair I will keep.

I have some big malaysian driftwood coming from Ted Judy this week. Need to go to Menards to get some floor supports. I'm ready to roll...that reminds me...I need to bug my son about finishing that stand today...:naughty:
