My name's Jasmine, and I've been a fish keeper for many many years. I went from freshwater to saltwater and back again. I've just been given the opportunity to exchange my four footer with a six footer. I'm planning on doing a south American cichlid tank, I've got two sevs atm. I'm planning on adding an oscar, a blue dempsey, a pleco of some sort (undecided yet). Would this be ok stocking wise? The tank is 180 x 60 high by 50 wide cms). What about a convict or jewel cichlid?

Thanks in advance :)

I think that stocking would be OK, and BTW you can get a convict pair. A jewel won't work with your stocking b/c they need a higher PH.

WELCOME

Thanks for that, I'm wary about getting a convict pair because I've heard they can become very aggressive and breed like rabbits

Hello and welcome!

Ok, so I've brought a tank.

But it's not the six footer like mentioned before.

It's a 210cm l x 52cm h x 60w.

What do you think I could get away with in terms of stocking levels?

congradulations ... now just choose a forum where you like a certain species and start a thread and ask... everyone will tell you the negatives and positives and most of all what to expect in general .. which helps you decide..
