Hi, everyone. Im super noob here.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So I cant have them together even though they r adult?

Jardinis are really aggressive, so most likely, every other fish in the tank will get killed off. This is as they grow bigger. You are more than welcome to see if it's true or not...

Arowanas on the other hand, can live with other fish, 2 arowanas may kill each other, 3 might work(you'll probably need a super duper big tank for this). We are just warning you on what's to come and how to avoid any casualties.

I'm just sharing what I've read around here, I have zero experience with these fish but I think I have some basic knowledge.

I need some experts to back me up, lol.

Kevin.. take your time and decide.. but before you do anythin.. read the stickies again mate and not asap :) read in detail.. some basic details.. silvers grow fast.. like 24" in about a year.. they can go 3ft+.. you'd need a minimum of a 8'X3'X3' tank to keep one or a couple for life.. a silver community is a hit or a miss.. but usually it can work when its an odd number combo.. 3,5,7... they are ok with fish that can't fit into their mouth.. and sometimes there are exceptions also.. i've had a black ghost knife with my silver and never had an issue.. anyway i think thats basic enough.. jardini i've never had but from what i've read.. they are pretty aggressive and will probably wipe out every fish in the tank.. again there are exceptions.. some people have had success with a jardini in a community setup.. they grow about 24".. a 8'X3'X3' would be a decent setup for the jardini.. think about it mate.. cheers.. make a decision based on how much you can provide for the fish now and also in the future..

I definitely 2nd the bigger tank. For now your tank is OK but they grow fast. Start checking Craigslist for deals on 240gal or more. Maybe start growing some plecos while your at it. Its also good to check here on "marketplace". A lot of guys from california sell their stuff here. I got lucky enough to find a 120gal for 40 bucks.. I dont currently dont have arowana but i kept jardini and silver in the past. My silver was a huge jumper so make sure you have decent cover as they grow.

Good Luck on finding a big tank for these guys and most of all, enjoy watching them grow.

I havnt kept Jardinis but that is because of the aggression that everyone keeps talking about it. Most of em are mean fish that dont enjoy playmates. Ive had a few silvers in the past though and I think they are great fish especially if you want more than one fish in the tank. I havnt seen much aggression from silvers before and the ones ive kept never seem to stick up for themselves so I personally wouldnt try the combo. I currently have my 8" silver with some oscars, plecos and a redtail. The silver is scared of the oscars but they get along well enough. Beware of fin nippers! I would avoid cichlids as their tempers might do damage, I actually lost a baby aro to a hostile baby firemouth cichlid. be careful about combinations and watch their behaviors closely

One bad news..one of my silver is dead...but i not sure it was killed by jar.

One good news..I returned my jar already..I'm so glad the owner accepted me to return it.

Here is a problem. Now, my silver stays at the bottom at most of time.

Is he sick?

and can I have other fish with my silver now?

or i have to wait till it grow up to 6"+

So you wanted arowsns all your life, yet you never though to do any research as to what it takes to properly raise one.

So know that you've killed one aro, at least maybe you'll learn not to take advise from someone trying to take your money.

Keep the arowana by itself until at least 6" then only select tankmates until 10-11".

Make sure your top is completely sealed and secure, these fish can and will jump through any hole or make a hole. Most arowana that die, do it drying up on the floor next to their tank.

Your aro sits on the bottom because it is stressed, likely from being chased by the other aros. Give it a few days and it will be fine, is it eating?

I can't stress how important it is to have a sealed top. I lost a little arowana after it jumped out a 1" hole that was between the lid and the filter; the sad part is that it landed right next to a bucket that was full of water. :(

My best advice to you is to listen to what Bderick67 says; he knows what's what when it comes to South American arowanas.

It doesn't eat now...so I just wait?
also, does the water ph matter? because I saw other source that said aros should be placed at 6-7ph water.
And I tested my water is about higher than 7....do i need to use the ph down?

I really appreciate that you guys help me a lot!!:)
