in the pic it shows no basking area or lights, do you have that for her? health is half food and half proper care.

Yes. At the other end of the tanks is pile of rocks that step up and out of the water with a turtle light we got from the pet store, but I never see her up there.

coura thanks for ALL the info. looks like I need to add to her diet.

"She´s quite a looker, how long do you have her and what is her story"

well the story goes like this. my son found a snapping turtle at a local pond about the size of a quarter and asked if he could have it and put it in one of my empty 55's. mom said ok untill she read that she had to feed it all sorts of gross meats and stuff so she took him back and let it go. Now she feels horrible. Then decides to got to the pet store and buy one. well this is what they came home with. she wasn't taken care of very well before the pet store got her and she had some soft spots on her shell. the pet store helped us with as much as they could but they did know much about turtles. So here I am.

Humm I see...well if she was negleted at the pet store(wich is the rule considering how cheap sliders can be:() she can be sick, anything from respiratory hillness to shell rot could be afecting her:nilly:Is there any chance that you could get her to be seen by a vet:confused: That would be great, in general is allways good to have new animals to be seen by a exotic vet.;) Her habitat needs some inprovements, you need a aquarim heater and a filter. Is any possibility that she could be housed outside like in a garden pond or something like that:confused:

the people that had her before the pet store neglected her. the pet store helped us get her better. yes she has a heater and a filter. It's at the other end of her tank. do you heat garden ponds?

I'm thinking of putting in a big *** pond for her and maybe another turt & some fish next spring but I need to do alot of research first.

You dont need to heat garden ponds nature gives everithing that she needs in terms of ligth and heat. Of corse you can only keep her outside when she is completly healty;)
