Hi me and my bf have a 327g 30x31x84 inches tank with the following in it 10 severums ,10 uarus ,9 festivums,10 geophagus ,20 black skirt tetras,9 electric blue acaras,14 giant Danio , 7spotted silver dollars,7 clown loaches a few featherfin s and plecos,5 parrot cichlids if we take out all the parrots,Danio, clownloaches can we also take out all the tetras?if we do can we add 8 chocolate cichlids and 8 blue acaras I know we're a bit overstocked but we plan to rehome some in a 75g once their grown we just can't get enough of cichlids hehe:p:p

I would stock according to adult size and not current size, unless you are trying to get a pair of each species for the 327g, and plan to rehome a lot of fish after 1 year.

Why are you putting blue acaras in when you already have electric blue acaras?

That's alot of cichlids, what type of Severums? I'm not gonna lie at first I pictured a giant 7ft tall collum tank. But I'm going to assuming your tank is 84Lx30Wx31T. I imagine it's gonna be an absolute stunner just with cichlids.

Now it could work, with the cichlids you have listed up there. We could think the acara's mind their own while the Severums are too busy chasing each other to hunt the acara's.

But, at the end you mentioned blue acara's. So are you going to mix Electric blue acara's with regular blue's? There could be some issue there, seeing how electric blue's can be kinda soft and tend to stress easy.

Also what type of Geo? I know everyone views them as small but here is a 11 inch one.IMG_20161108_163246468.jpg

Also I have a Green Severum that is pushing 10inches.

And here is a chocolate that is around 8-9

(Sorry for the poor phone pics)

Anyways my point is, when you start talking about 18, 9inch fish, 10,10,inch fish ect ect. Even that mighty 7ft tank starts to look cramped.

Can it work? I think so, absolutely. Will you be over stocked. Yes in the long run. But, as time goes by you may decide to switch things up and change things around. My Severum up there is about 12 years old ish. Give or take a year or so. And that Geo is at least 7, because the guy that has his has had him for 6.

Your gonna get some pairing, some minor squabbles here and there. But all and all I think if you start small it's not gonna go south too fast.

But, that's just my 2¢

Wow that sounds like a really busy, cool setup. But honestly it is very overstocked, as you know. They might all be pretty small right now but imagine all those fish at full size! I would not add any more cichlids unless you first remove at least as many as you want to add... even then I would scale it back. You have 30 fish with the potential to grow to 10+ inches, and 15 more that can get around 6". I would honestly only recommend around half of that stock.

Covetous I have 3 red spotted sev 2 rotkiel s 3 mouth brooding 1 red shoulder I have 5 geo surinamesis and 5 willimeri oh is there a prob mixing regular blue acaras with electric?because I was planning to add regular because in case the electrics don't work out I had electric blue rams before and they were so haaard to take care of

Oh so no possibility of it all working out huhu we can't bear to part with any of those except the ones named we were just planning to remove maybe 8 fishes in the end

Yup that's exactly what happened when we got our tank it looked so huge that we thought oh we can just order what we want because you know in the Philippines the only place you can find easily cichlids is in Manila our capital and we have to order then ship to our city through the airport so we ordered all we wanted cause no one will ship for just a few fishes :(

Regular acara's are much hardier then their electric blue brethren. So they could easily stress them out.

And like I said above, sure it will work for a while. But eventually those fish are all gonna get big and your gonna have a cramped tank.

If it where me, I'd do a group of Geo's, Chocolates, or Severums and then have the acara's as your little guys. Not all the above together. Or if you did want them all together just cut your numbers back.

But I think you will see this as you go. The guys above are just trying to save you heartache of having to get rid of fish you've grown attached to.

Either way, good luck! And it's gonna be a beautiful tank.

Thanks for being so nice about it covetous :p:p:oops:anyway will give it a go so it's ok to remove the tetras?and I can't have both electric and regular blues?:(

Yeah, unfortunately it is very easy to place all these fish in the tank when they are all small, but once they get large you will have too many fish in there. I don't think aggression will be much of an issue, with so many fish it will be very spread out amongst them and nobody will get picked on too bad (plus these cichlids are all on the mellow side). But the bioload of that number of large fish will be impossible to keep up with and the water will get too dirty. You would need more like a 500-600 gallon for that number of fish in my opinion. I know you say you can't bear to part with any of them... but ask yourself what will be easier to do, sell away some happy, healthy fish. Or have many of your beloved fish eventually get sick and die off? Not trying to "rain on your parade", but I think you should understand that's what will likely happen down the road. You will be fine for probably a year (maybe a bit less), so you can take your time thinning down if you want, but I would definitely recommend selling fish instead of adding.
