hey just joined after years of viewing the forums....umm I live in az, I have 2 150 gal;1 long (around 50 mixed African cichlids) 1 show/tall (fire eel) a 72 bowfront(a red texas an a jag) a 42 bowfront(6 baby red terrors a baby jack dempsy) a 35 corner(empty at the moment) and a 300 gall koi pond...im looking to get a 240 for a south American tank and one of the 30 gallon half moon tanks for ...well something.

my post from another thread.......hi, this is my first post to this forum ,though ive been using the site for info for years... any way,i cant get my new fire eel to eat(I know this is a typical problem) this is my 2nd fire eel and I got the other to eat within 24 hours of owning it. ive tried hand feeding, using tongs, the bottle method, ghost shrimp and just scattering boodworms but it still wont eat any time of the day. hes still a baby, just a hair over 6", around the size my other was when I got it in a 150 gallon tall/show with a few community fish(3 tinfoil barbs 3 silver dollars and 2 blue gouramis and 3 roseline sharks all still pretty small. lots of hiding via pvc some fake barnicals a few rocks and sand substrate. my last one(rip) lived with about 40 African cichlids in my other 150 and was never afraid to come out and eat,after I figured out he liked live earthworms and nothing else.so I moved him into this 150 to be his tank at around 2ft so he could have a tank pretty much to himself, shortly after he was found under the stand dead. so I added some extra security to the lid and put another on order. I have read they can be picky and know first hand that to be true. any help? my thoughts- the tank is to big?...BLASTPHEMY! I know but It seems that I disturb to much getting to the bottom of the tank and it freaks him out...could it be the other fish?there all nonaggressive and to small to pose a threat or competition for food with the exeption of one of the tinfoil barbs who can get an earthworm in his mouth but struggles to get it down.... or couldit still be new to the tank jitters? ps. its not water quality by any means I test regularly and im well within fantastic conditions.im not new to this hobby and I have several other large tanks and a pond running without issue. thanks for the help-Joe
