That would work if my background was like yours however my background is glued in all the way around other than where my return pipes penetrate.
My tank is acrylic so I can’t see behind it well and no access to the top at all, Only from the side.
I’m Afraid my only solution is to re do it all. It will be worth it in the end.

When you say glued, is it siliconed?, if thats the case you can remove and re-silicone.

Yes, siliconed in. I’m in the process of filling out my fish room. I’ve ordered two new tanks. A 280 and a 180 gallon tank. 6’x30”x30” and a 4’x30”x30”.
Once the new tanks are here and on line I’ll tear out the old background and move them to one of the other tanks. Then I’ll re do my backgrounds to some custom Aquadecore backgrounds.
Once done I’ll have three nice tanks for different fish. All will be on the same sump system. One tank (550g) will be in wall in the house. The other two will be in my fish room and be enjoyed out there.
I’ll probably start a fish room build thread once farther along.



here is my sump system for 550. its big enough to run all three tanks. I will also have an FX6 on each of the new tanks to augment the filtration. I also jus5 added an 80 watt UV sterilizer.

Thanks for the complement. I plan to post updates as this project unfolds. I really thought it was gonna be impressive as it is but made a critical error on letting fish behind my background. Should have known better.
In the end I’ll have a setup that is easy to take care of and enjoy and the new backgrounds should be even better than this one. Ive had this background for 18 years or so. These type of backgrounds have come a long way since then.
