hiding places - needed?

I like to give my fish some places to hide cause with aggressive fish it is always possible for them to chase/attack each other to death. If he doesnt have a problem then its up to him if he wants cover or not. I have had some shy fish that hide too often and would get little to no food cause the more aggressive fish would eat it all while he was hiding so I had to take out some decor.

I don't think it makes a difference. Maybe when they are small it'll make them feel more comfortable, but once they become accustomed to the tank and you, they will be swimming in the middle waiting for food.

After a year and half with my pygos, they see me walk in the room and they are swarming around the top of the tank expecting food.

I keep them in a planted tank with driftwood mostly because I like the look of it not because I think its doing much for them.
