I have a 210 thats been up for 8 months , Ihave an arow 14"motoro 10" 3 dats 5" tig 9" and a couple of bichirs. I have an fx5, 2 rena xp 2, and ac110. I have seen signs of ick on my dats so I bumped my temp up and added salt and yesterday I cleaned my tank moved sand around cleaned the glass and put new floss pads in the rena's did a 30% water change. when I woke up my ray looked very light in color and when he climbed the glass i saw a red spot on him. So I chek water pparamiters
ammonia at 4
0 nitrate
0 nitrite
ph at 6
Im doing a 40% water change rite now and am going to throw in a amoonia remover bag.
what should I keep on doing to bring my levels to normal????

Are you treating the water? My faucet water is high in ammonia, so I always add ammo-lock. I have never had an arro or ray so I do not know how it effects them.

I also use carbon and ammonia chips in my canisters.

I can't imagine a bloom in a tank set-up for 8 months. That sucks; it sounds like you have some nice fish.

ya I use prime and do 25% changes every 3-4 days. I think I may have turned on my filters too soon after water change killing my good bacteria.

why would turning your filters on right after a waterchange kill beneficial bacteria?

How deep is your sand bed?

Your ph seems a bit low if it crashed below 6 because of excess dissolved solids or other reasons it could have killed your BB

If any gas pockets where formed in your sand bed that could also have caused a ph crash

Best course of action is to continue water changes and monitor your ammonia and PH
