I agree with most of you that 40 ppm is nothing, but that is a fairly high level to some. I prefer to never let mine get that high. If it happens, I don't stress, but think about how pissed you would be if your tap water had 40ppm. Fish LIVE in water, and are much more sensitive to the long term effects.
