how high is the nitrate in the tap water.....???

or try a chemical nitrate adsorber .

my tap has absolutly none. never tried an obsorber, what should i get? is this common w rays, and their huge bio-load?

could be because you got a chemical into the water, like windex. or maybe your filter isn't enough. Could probably be alot more reasons. have you done a gravel vac?

i am not a ray keeper.....but big bio load makes lots of nitrates....

i keep regular fish and have a huge nitrate load... solved by massive water changes ( 24/7)

check seachem as one source for nitrate removers .....

i have a 140 gal, with 4 400 emperior bio-wheeles, a magnum 350, and a marineland c-360 canister. no substrate, and i never clean anything with any chemical

the bio filter is what produces nitrates from ammonia and nitrites to little filter and the ammonia and nittrites would be high.

clean gravel and clean filter pads will also help along with not over feeding

ok how about the filter pads....are they holding organic materials ( waste) ??
